You're not the boss of me!

I made the suggestion that Islam was the teenager to Christianity's more mature adult. tightpants4eva illustrates the interaction between the two:
CHRISTIANITY: Islam! So help me, you're going to accept secular democracy like a responsible and mature theological tradition!

ISLAM: No way, man! I don't wanna grow up to be like you. I'm gonna be true to myself and keep executing infidels and sinners as much as I want.

CHRISTIANITY: Oh, please. I was launching crusades and running inquisitions while you were still in diapers. Believe me, it's gets old fast. You need to do the smart thing and accept a humanist approach to...

ISLAM: Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! I'm going to my room. A jihad on all of you! [runs upstairs to bedroom]

CHRISTIANITY: (sighing) Sweet Jesus. Was I really that obnoxious when I was that age?

JUDAISM: Believe me. You were.

[Meanwhile, at the retirement home...]

ZOROASTRIANISM: (talking to no one) Hello? Is anyone there? Does anyone care what I think?
Context is here.

I'm so glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read that.

Your icon is SO very appropriate here. Gahaha

Meanwhile, Islam is up in it's room listening to My Chemical Romance...

Updating its Livejournal and contemplating cutting itself?

Question, why does Eva need tight pants? Can she not get her own tight pants? Is Eva the sort of person who should be wearing tight pants?

Yes, but much like your bloke in a dress, she only wears skirts. Ankle-length skirts.

It's a tragedy, really.

Oh holy... wow... that was freakin' hilarious!! But to ponder... what would Paganism be? Christianity's grandfather? or it's 'crazy' uncle from outta town?

It was the final comment by Judaism that had me LOLing most!

This just in from <lj comm="OverheardInHvn">

God: "Don't make me turn this Creation around."

Islam: "Dadddd! He's persecuting me!"

Christianity: "He started it!"

Judaism: "If you two don't stop, I'm going to put an invisible Wailing Wall back there!"

God: "That's ENOUGH! The minute we get there, I'm putting ALL of you into a time out!"

Hinduism: "ALL of us? What did I do?"

God: "Nothing. You're the room."

And that's what makes this reply the bestest.

This is great, thanks.

Oh man, I've actually SAID something like this. Not on LJ, but in real life.

Except Catholicism was the old lady wearing really gaudy pearls and loads of makeup, talking about back in the day to anyone who cares to listen.

Heard something similar- Quakers are like a crazy aunt and uncle- he's the one with the nine million books of archaic thought that writes theology tomes, she's the one with the crystals and a guitar singing about everyone getting along. Together, they fight crime! teach the kids cool stuff.

There was also stuff about not letting the marriage decay because of personal differences, appreciating having someone to challenge you, etc. It was an extended metaphor by someone very interested in getting Liberal and Fundamental Friends in 'yoke,' so to speak, but it made me squirm that he saw the entire religion as an older Dharma and Greg.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go make my trampoline- we have guests coming.

Zoroastrianism sold it.

I just wanna say, I came back from my grandmother's funeral yesterday and this was the first thing I got to read. I was feeling quite depressed and this made me giggle. Thanks. ^_^

I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. *loves*

He'll be the college-age older brother who's always high and really mellow... "Come on, everyone, can't we all just chill together?"

No wank yet? C'mon, y'all! Where my metaquotes-lovin' Muslims at? I got the popcorn ready and everything ...

Ha, I was thinking the same thing. At the very least, I expected someone to point out that Islam is older than Christianity.
