And what do you burn, apart from witches?

Over in my journal, I posted a letter I wrote to New York House Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, concerning an up-and-coming same-sex marriage bill.

forcemajeure brings the funny with a fabulously satirized reply.

Dear Rick,

Thank you so much for taking the time to contact my office with this issue of concern to you. I value correspondence from my fellow New Yorkers on the important issues facing our state.

As you may know, it is an established fact that many Massachusetts residents are witches; many of these witches have married unsuspecting mortals. These mortals are powerless to leave these relationships, for fear of being transformed into a toad or other amphibian for an indeterminate period of time. Therefore we cannot extrapolate from Massachusetts's experience the effect same-sex marriage would have in New York.

Thank you again for writing with your concerns. I wish you well in your studies. Together, we can build a bridge to the 17th century.

Very truly yours,

Sen. Joseph Bruno
