breaking the stereotype.

xoverau stars in "not judging a book by it's cover" (flocked, qwp):

There's a certain doctor of pathology we page for tissue banks at work. He has a voice kind of like Charles Winchester from M*A*S*H. I assume based on photos for his office group that he conforms to the external stereotype for his area (i.e., Charles Winchester).

I got a check-in call from him today, enunciating over background chatter.

Doctor Death: I-uhm sorruh to showt, but I-uhm at Summerfestuh.
Nic (thinking): Oh, that's right, he lives in Milwaukee. Probably goes to the grounds for walks. Pushes the grandkids in the stroller, shares a Sno-Kone with the wife. Ah, the golden years.
Doctor Death:: I-uhl hayuhv a problemuh hearinguh you for the next fewuh hours. I-uhl be at a concertuh.
Nic (thinking): I didn't know they had chamber orchestras at Summerfest.
Nic: Yeah? What show?
Doctor Death: I-uhm going to Ni-uhn Inch Nayuhls.
Nic: So basically you're saying, don't bother with the beeper.
Doctor Death: ...Yeah, probablyuh not.

Stage dive past Trent for me, Doctor D., slayer of medical stereotypes. Don't let them take you alive.

Remind me what today is again?

Good news! So far today, no bright eyed young American has asked me why the UK doesn't celebrate the 4th of July. Unlike the last three years.

Happy Independence Day, America. No nation on Earth could live up to the ideals you've aimed for; thank you for trying anyway. Your foreign policy is scary, your President is hilariously scary, your people are amazing.

And we're just luring you into a false sense of security. As soon as we're done defeating Napolean, we'll be back.
