You can tell the weather's turning colder because the McDonald's on 42nd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues has upped the wattage on its marquee again. When really cranking, those golden bulbs let off enough heat that employees could smoke under it in short shirt sleeves even during last winter's 9-degree weather. It has to be the warmest place outdoors, and it has the eerie effect of simulating the experience of being a french fry, something I'm not sure was intended.

_audrey is watching late night TV.

"So Rage is having some sort of Prince (or whatever the hell he's calling himself now) music video marathon. I swear, there are only so many times you can watch that man dry-hump his microphone stand before it does irreparable damage to your brain."

Anyway, this cracked me up.

You know, if I were a devout believer directing a film about Christ, and my lead actor got struck by lightning, such that smoke came out of his ears... struck by lightning not once, but twice, I might take it as a gentle suggestion of displeasure from the viewing public on high. Er...
